BEFORE THE WAX:
— Grow your hair out for AT LEAST 3 WEEKS. It should be a minimum 1/4 inch long (about the size of a grain of rice). If the hair is too short it will not be able to be removed by the wax. Do not worry about your hair being too long-- there’s no such thing.
— You can take an OTC pain reliever 45 minutes before your appointment if you choose, or The Posh Kitty offers topical numbing cream to purchase. Contact Tracy for more information.
— Tell your Wax Expert If you are allergic to anything.
— If possible, wear loose fitting clothing and cotton underwear the day of your wax. This allows your skin to breathe.
DURING THE WAX:
— It is normal to have short baby hairs that are too short be removed or that pop up in between waxes when you’re new to waxing. Your hair grows in 3 different growth cycles. Some hairs are long and grown out, some are short baby hairs that have just started growing out, and others are under the skin ready to poke out at any time. It takes about 3 consistent waxing sessions (every 4 weeks) to get all your hair on the same cycle (meaning you’ll have smoother results that last longer in between waxes).
— Avoid shaving in between waxes to get and keep your hair on the same growth cycle. Shaving between appointments will throw off your growth cycle.
DO NOT WAX IF:
— Do not wax if you are on prescription or OTC medications that can thin the skin. Medications such as Accutane, isotretinoin, Tretinoin or Retinoids can thin your skin causing it to lift or tear. If you’re unsure about a medication you’re taking just ask your Wax Expert.
— You can get waxed if you’re on your period, as long as you’re wearing a tampon. However your skin can be extra sensitive during your cycle.
